Why I chose this license

I selected a Non-Commercial license because this is a personal open-hardware learning project.

I want everyone to study it, improve it, and build it for themselves but not to turn it into a commercial product without my permission.

Dissemination plan

This project was developed as part of the Fab Academy to learn digital fabrication, electronics, and product design. The kitchen timer will continue to be improved after my exchange semester (in which I took only the FabLab Management course), with the goal of making it reliable, functional, and easy to customize.

The project will probably be published open-source after it's completion. The design files and documentation will be shared on open platforms such as Printables and Thingiverse, so others can build, modify, and learn from it. The timer is intended as a personal learning project and a customizable gift item — not for commercial use at this stage.

There are currently no plans for commercialization. Future work will focus on polishing the design, improving usability, and making the build process easier for makers.

I created this video following these steps:

  1. I wrote my text (around 500 characters)
  2. I used this text to voice tool. For my text length it was still free and I believe if you create an account you can also get longer texts to voice.
  3. I marked the timesteps of the recorded file and went into the Fusion360 animation module. I animated the video according to the time steps. Here is the youtube tutorial I used to get into making animations in Fusion. After the video it was just learning by doing.
  4. In the end I used daVinci Resolve to edit the audio to the video.
